Picolit

DOCG COLLI ORIENTALI DEL FRIULI

This Friulian autochthonous variety of vine with white berry is really ancient and it was already cultivated in the Roman imperial period. It had the honour to delight the palates of popes and emperors for its very noble nature.

This variety of vine is characterized by very limited productions due to particular developments of the grapes which undergo a partial floral abortion, leaving the loose bunch with small and sweet grapes. This causes very low yields per hectare which is an important factor for the quality.

The 2006 vintage is the first D.O.C.G. “Colli Orientali del Friuli – Picolit”: thanks to the identification of its particular value, Picolit is the second D.O.C.G. of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
