Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso
DOP FRIULI COLLI ORIENTALI
This autochthonous variety of vine with black berry is considered the best in the family of Refoschi.
Its origins are not well known but in Roman times it was cultivated in this zone. It is mentioned many times in the literary works of the XV century as one of the most excellent varieties of wine of Friuli. The name derives from the Friulian “rap fosc” which means dark bunch.
In recent times with the arrival of more international varieties it was vanishing, but in the last decades it was revaluated and spread in all the regional territory becoming a remarkable autochthonous.
